Welcome to the June newsletter from the DragonsCavern website.
Firstly, an apology for the look of this newsletter.
The template that is normally used for the newsletter is not functioning, and so we have had to resort to a text based newsletter this issue. We hope to be up and running again with the coloured whizzy looking one once again next month.
This month we have news on;
Tudor Mint News,
Other News,
DragonsCavern News,
Vote results and a new vote,
Requests.
Tudor Mint News:
===========
The last ever Tudor Mint Extravaganza took place on Sunday 20th May. As well as the tombola, prize draws and paint a dragon features the main event of the day was the announcement of the future of Myth and Magic. Rumours had already started to spread during the day, but it was left to Graham Hughes, MD of the Tudor Mint, to make the official announcement. The company has been sold to another British giftware company - Xystos. Xystos have several collectable ranges already in their portfolio including Pendelfin and Enchantica. Xystos' managing director spoke briefly to the gathered collectors to announce their plans for the future of Myth and Magic (see Other News below).
Jean Wood, PA to Graham, will be retiring shortly, whilst Sue and Stephanie in the collectors club are moving to new ventures. We have set up an area on the blog where you are able to leave a comment to these three, as over the years their help, support and advice has been wonderful.

Other News:
========
The MD of Xystos, Nick Frankish, spoke briefly at the Extravaganza, but spoke in more detail with DragonsCavern. There are plans to continue with the collection, releasing new studies as before. In addition the collectors club should be continuing, along with an Extravaganza of some sorts. Mr Frankish also spoke to DragonsCavern of the need to get the Myth and Magic brand back in the shops so that it can be seen, and told us that one of the first jobs will be to get the company sales reps to start pushing the brand.
He seemed quite happy for DragonsCavern to continue to provide advanced news about the collection, and in an email sent after the Extravaganza said; "As soon as we have all the details of the acquisition confirmed and we have an outline plan of how we will proceed agreed within the business I will make contact and you can post the info on the site. We will also prepare a more formal communication for the Collectors Club and put a message on our own site." We look forward to a working relationship as we did with Jean, Sue and Steph at the Tudor Mint.
DragonsCavern News:
==============
Yes,we did made a mistake with the last newsletter. Did you spot it? We numbered it wrongly. We were obviously thinking too far ahead and called it Issue 37, not 36. Oops! Of course, that means that this newsletter is celebrating it's third year. Can you believe that - three years of the DragonsCavern newsletter, and we're still finding things to waffle on about. Will we ever run out of comments??
The forum now has over 100 members, many who post messages and questions frequently. Have you joined in to ask that question that you always wondered about, but didn't know who to ask it to?
During May we launched the DragonsCavern toolbar - a small application that sits in your browser (a bit like the google and yahoo toolbars). What does it do? Well, through the magic of the interweb it automatically updates when new information is added to the blog, and also has a handy list of links to take you many of the areas of DragonsCavern with a single click. It also contains the DragonsCavern search facility, so that you can now browse the site when looking through eBay or elsewhere. Optional facilities on the toolbar also allow you to display your local weather, and your latest emails. Full details of the toolbar can be found either on the right hand side of the blog, or on the front page, and sitemap page, of the website.
In the subscribers section, we are planning to add the remaining Methtintdour Times (up to 18 months behind the latest one) over the next month, time allowing.
Remember that to access to the subscribers section, use your username and password.
We also have a favour to ask collectors. Have you noticed that on some of our pages, we are missing the data about the designer of a study. If you have one of those studies, we would be grateful if you could look underneath it, and email us with the details of the designer.
Also - if you have any of the Tudor Mint Chess sets, do you have the poster that explains the significance of each piece in the set? We're looking to add the "story" of each chess set to the website.
Thank you in advance!
Requests:
=======
If you have a prototype study, or a rare version of any item please send it to us for inclusion on the prototypes/rare pages. Use the submit
form on the contact page of the website. In addition to this, the 'wanted' page of the website lists studies that we are looking for images for. If you are able to help with those, please contact us.
That's all for this month. If you have any news, websites, announcements or comments that you would like to see in the next newsletter, or if you are a trader / collector who would like to be featured in an article in a future newsletter, please contact the webmanager.
Sincerely ,
Webmanager
